Triple Digit Subtraction with Regrouping (Borrowing)

Triple Digit Subtraction with Regrouping (Borrowing)

Triple-digit subtraction with regrouping follows the same basic principles as double-digit subtraction with regrouping. It just involves three-digit numbers and requires borrowing from the tens and/or hundreds place.

Triple-digit subtraction with regrouping can be more confusing because of the potential for multiple instances of regrouping. However, it uses the same process as simpler forms of subtraction with regrouping. The concept just extended to a third place value.

Once students understand the basic principles needed to complete these worksheets, they’ll be able to subtract numbers of any size.
