More About 3D Shapes
Children begin learning about 3-dimensional shapes as early as kindergarten, but it continues throughout their education. Three-dimensional shapes are solid shapes that have length, width, and depth. The shapes worksheets that you’ll find on this page cover cubes, cylinders, spheres, cones, and pyramids. You can also find worksheets that deal with more unique shapes like rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, ellipsoids, and hemispheres.
Here is some important information your students will need to know in order to complete our shapes worksheets:
CUBES: a three-dimensional solid object with six square faces.
CYLINDERS: a three-dimensional solid object with two parallel, circular faces and one curved side connecting them.
SPHERES: a three-dimensional shape where every point on the shape is equidistant from the center (a ball).
CONES: a three-dimensional shape with a flat and curved surface pointed towards the top.
PYRAMIDS: a three-dimensional shape made up of a base and triangular faces that meet in a point at the top.
PRISMS: a three-dimensional shape with two identical ends and flat faces. The shape of the base determines the type of prism that it is. For example, a triangular base is a triangular prism.
ELLIPSOIDS: a three-dimensional shape that is circular.
HEMISPHERES: a three-dimensional shape that is half of a sphere.
